Cancellation policy and refund windows
Open Settings → Cancellation Policy. Two decisions:
1. The refund window
How many hours before the booking a guest can still cancel with a refund. The cutoff is enforced in your venue's time zone and computed automatically. Inside the window, refunds go back to the card on their own; past it, the deposit is yours to keep (you can still refund manually case-by-case with Refund & Cancel).
- 24 hours is the standard. Enough time to re-sell the slot from the waitlist.
- 48 hours suits big rooms and weekend prime time, where refilling takes longer.
- Under 12 hours mostly protects no one, since you cannot refill a 7 PM room at 6 PM anyway.
2. Allow Customer Self-Cancellation
On means guests can cancel from their Manage Booking link within your rules. Keep it on: early cancellations you can re-sell beat silent no-shows every time. Off means every change routes through your phone.

Write the policy in plain words on your booking page ("Free cancellation until 24h before; after that the deposit is non-refundable"). Disputes come from surprises, not from policies.
